On January 7, 2025 the fire began on a hillside, east of Altadena and Midwick Drive, in Altadena, California. While the official cause of the fire has not been released, initial reporting suggests Southern California Edison (“SCE”) may have had a role in the fire’s origin. SCE does not appear to directly deny it played a part in the Eaton Fire, and it has been asked to preserve evidence related to the electrical infrastructure where the fire began.
